WhiteHat Jr’s Karan Bajaj on how taking three sabbatical breaks helped him grow as a person and as an entrepreneur

In this episode of the 100X Entrepreneur Podcast, Karan Bajaj, Founder, WhiteHat Jr, talks about taking professional breaks in his career and how it helped him learn and grow as a person.

Karan Bajaj, Founder and CEO of WhiteHat Jr wore a few caps before firing up. He was the CEO at Discovery, a creator with Penguin Random House and HarperCollins Publishers.

Karan says he took three expert breaks during this excursion to comprehend himself better and take jumps ahead.

"I had [my experience] in two sections, and I went through just about 10 years on each in my specific manner. A piece of it was my expert way. In this way, I went to IIM and later joined Procter and Gamble. After this, I went to Boston Consulting Group and lived half of it in India and half of it outside India. I worked in customer bundled CPG organizations before I turned into the CEO of the India Discovery organization. Parallelly, the other piece of my life was my composition. As an outcome, I composed three books, and I required a ton of years off to zero in on my composition," he says.

Karan established ed-tech startup WhiteHat Jr in November 2018 to help youngsters between 6 to 14 years get familiar with the essentials of coding. In August 2020, WhiteHat Jr was offered to BYJU's in a $300 million all-cash bargain.

Aside from his excursion as a corporate specialist and a business visionary, Karan has written three books to date, including Keep Off the Grass, Johnny Gone Down, and The Seeker.

"I was turning 30, and there was clearly all the family strain to get hitched and settle down, purchase a house and stuff. It felt idiotic since I was not settled at all. I was leaving everything and going, so, how the general population saw, or the general visibility of companions, family, and so forth, was extremely adverse," he says.

He then left India in January 2008 and headed out to South America and lived there for a very long time, lived in Eastern Europe for a very long time, and Mongolia for a long time. However, he needed to return to work in December 2008 to encounter the direst outcome imaginable as there were no positions accessible because of the Lehman Brothers crash in the US. He found a new line of work at BCG following three months yet understood that he previously experienced the direst outcome imaginable and took a significant development jump.

"I imagine that freed me, so the resulting jumps turned into somewhat simpler," he adds.

In any case, from the advancing experience from his movements, Karan started his excursion as a creator. In 2012, Karan enjoyed his subsequent reprieve to learn yoga and contemplation and enjoyed his third reprieve in 2016.

"I grew a great deal during the primary vacation by voyaging, and I filled in the second holiday with yoga and reflection. I realized that I was taking a significant jump for development on every one of these occasions. Ultimately, life would reimburse me, and I imagine that turned into an example that I have sorted out. After returning from my yoga contemplation break, I understood that I was climbing in my work quickly. I turned into a C-level chief rapidly because I changed a great deal personally. Thus, I felt that I think life, at last, will reimburse you if you picked development each time. It doesn't come in quickly. However, it will compensate you," he says.
